07 Feb Respiration and Breathing

At Miracle Learning Centre, Science is taught in such a way that no one can ever imagine. Science is a very fundamental subject which requires a lot of curiosity and questioning the traditional explanations to learn it properly. Being one of the most important and primary subjects to learn, Science has a lot of fun and knowledge to offer. Miracle Learning Centre was established only with one aim which is to make Science easy and fun for all the students.

Science tuition class in Miracle Learning Centre is fun and enriching. You will learn about the different aspects of Science and how to learn study skills too. If you do not like or understand science, you must definitely attend the science tuition class at Miracle Learning Centre to arouse and reignite your interest. Let us learn about respiration and breathing in this science tuition lesson.

Respiration is the breaking down of glucose into carbon dioxide and water in the presence of oxygen to release energy. Respiration takes place all the time, so plants animals need a steady supply of oxygen.
Breathing takes place in the lungs for mammals, in gills for fishes and in stomata for plants. Inhaled air is the air that is being breathed in while exhaled air is the air that is being breathed out. Inhaled Air contains more oxygen (about 21% oxygen), less carbon dioxide (about 0.03%) and less water vapor. Exhaled air has more carbon dioxide (about 4%), less oxygen (about 16%), more water vapor and higher temperature than inhaled air.

The differences between respiration and breathing are that respiration takes place in every cell while breathing only takes place in the lungs. In addition, respiration is a chemical process that releases energy from food while breathing is a physical process of gaseous exchange. Respiration uses the oxygen absorbed from breathing while breathing removes carbon dioxide produced during respiration. No enzymes are required during breathing but during respiration, many enzymes play an important role. Breathing is the voluntary biophysical process and it is completed in two stages, glycolysis and Krebs cycle. While Respiration is an involuntary process and happens by inspiration and expiration.
